Meet Hank, a 6-year old Beagle who loves toys that look like animals and yummy treats! (The smellier the better) His need to know everything through his nose would make him an excellent forensic scientist. 🔎

Hank’s adoption was a few years in the making. I’ll let Hank’s mom share her story from here— 

“My partner and I had browsed the Humane Society SGF before, but I never felt that “connection” until we saw Hank in May 2023. In a place where it seemed like every other dog was barking, Hank was just laying in his cage snoozing. We said hello to him, and he woke up and looked at us with a very calm and delighted expression. Seeing him so grounded in his little world amongst the chaos was what stole our hearts. After taking some time to make sure we were fit to adopt Hank, we went back and inquired about him only to find out he was heartworm positive and would need to be fostered while receiving treatments before he was eligible for adoption.

After jumping through a few hoops, he was coming home to get healthy. Hank had a month of treatments and we officially adopted him July 13th. He came home and immediately grabbed his favorite ducky toy. In the beginning, we thought we were going to have a very relaxed, subdued little guy but after six months of good health we have found out Hank is curious and loves to track a good scent with his beagle nose. Hank was worth the years of waiting as he came into our lives at exactly the right time. Our lives are enriched because of this special little guy.”
